These two courses are being held by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry (DCNR), and will prove to be an asset to anyone fighting wildland fires. The start date will be Tuesday, January 31st 2012, and run every Tuesday and Thursday until February 28th. Start time will be at 1830hrs. The field exercise portion of the training will be March 3rd, weather permitting. Back-up date will be March 10th. The courses will be held at the Shohola Township Fire Station #1 on Rt. 434. A head count is required, so a preregistration deadline is being imposed. That deadline is Friday,January 20th 2012. Objectives of this session include identifying the criteria and exclusion criteria for bleeding control and the use of hemostatic agents, understanding the proper way to apply hemorrhage control and the use of hemostatic agents and documentation of the use of hemostatic agents and tourniquets.
