These two courses are being held by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry (DCNR), and will prove to be an asset to anyone fighting wildland fires. The start date will be Tuesday, January 31st 2012, and run every Tuesday and Thursday until February 28th. Start time will be at 1830hrs. The field exercise portion of the training will be March 3rd, weather permitting. Back-up date will be March 10th. The courses will be held at the Shohola Township Fire Station #1 on Rt. 434. A head count is required, so a preregistration deadline is being imposed. That deadline is Friday,January 20th 2012. Objectives of this session include identifying the criteria and exclusion criteria for bleeding control and the use of hemostatic agents, understanding the proper way to apply hemorrhage control and the use of hemostatic agents and documentation of the use of hemostatic agents and tourniquets. This class is the second class of a two part series. This class will be held on January 18, 2011 at 20:30 hrs. at the Tafton Fire House on Rt. 507 in Palmyra Township, Pike County. This class has been registered for continuing education for EMTs, Paramedics, and PHRNs.
Tourniquets & Hemorrhage Control Course
Recommendations on hemorrhage control, hemostatic agents and tourniquets are changing in the pre-hospital field based on new levels of experience in military medicine. Reviewed are the causes and types of blood loss, internal and external bleeding, the signs and symptoms of hemorrhage and the treatment protocols for these injuries. This class is one in atwo part series. This class will be held on January 18, 2011 at 19:00 hrs. at the Tafton Fire House on Rt. 390 in Palmyra Township, Pike County.
