The BLS Healthcare Provider Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several
life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course is intended for certified or noncertified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals. Non-DTVAC or PCALS personnel will be charged a fee for this course. Primary use of epinephrine auto-injectors. Includes didactic and skill performance, as well as successful completion of a written and practical skill examination. This is the PA Department of Health module to allow EMTs, functioning with an approved BLS service with medical command, to administer an epinephrine auto-injector. This course is sponsored by Pike County Advanced Life Support and has been registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Health for 2 hours of continuing education credit for Pennsylvania certified EMTs. This course defines the different allergic reactions and the body’s physiologic response to antigens. It emphasizes the importance of careful history taking and how to recognize the signs and symptoms of allergic reactions, and how to treat and care for a patient who is
suffering from an allergic reaction or from anaphylaxis. This course is sponsored by Pike County Advanced Life Support and has been registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Health for 2 hours continuing education credit for Pennsylvania certified EMTs. This 16 hour course will touch upon training and the training officer’s qualifications, policy and procedures, legal liabilities,
court appearance, leadership, communications and public relations, defensive driving, traffic control, security, self-protection and uniforms. This course is sponsored by the Wayne County Fireman’s Association. The course will be held April 19^th, April 26^th, Mary 14^th and May 21^st from 18:30hrs until 22:30hrs. The Intro to Fire Officership Course is a 16 hour course that will give the student a basic overview of fire officers responsibilities, personnel issues, fireground operations, and the development of a sound and effective administrative and fire ground organizational structure. This is an introductory class; the program does not prepare the student for Fire Officer Certification. Recommended Pre-requisite: Essentials of Firefighting or equivalent. This program provides valuable insight into fire department management from both the tactical and administrative officers’ viewpoints. The course will be held April 3^rd, 5^th, 17^th, 19^th, 2012 from 18:30 to 22:30 hours. This course will be held at the Shohola Township Fire Station #1 on Rt. 434.
